Sarah Palin's Grammar Still on the Scene.

She may have lost on Tuesday, but Sarah Palin’s vanguard assault on the English language continues.

    but shes soo hot.

  • e.

    her run on sentences kill me every time.

    boo lemu boo.

  • Steve

    She’s pretty damn cute…and it bothers me.

  • Big Word

    I wanna hear that Brag Em Up speech.

  • elitismiswrong

    I agree, the cutsie toosie thing must stop. For one, it is very annoying. Two, it does not portray the kind of atmosphere a VP candidate–in my opinion–should have. Furthermore, she could use some grammar drills in the area of tense.

    But also and too, though, what we really need is to maybe perhaps, like I said before, we can’t let them destroy this great country. Also.

    I have a question about Sarah Palin’s grammar. It is in reference to her interview with Matt Lauer when she described herself as “somebody very, very committed to policies that I believe will progress this country in the right direction.”

    Can the word “progress” even have a direct object? Just curious.

  • quadmoniker

    Amanda, you are right. Progress can be used as a verb but not one with a direct object.

    Prescriptivists =P

    The grammatically incorrect but easily understood transitive use of an intransitive verb is waaay less of an issue, for me, than the fact that she uses so. many. words. to say *absolutely nothing*.

  • v: that’s particularly what I find so grating. It’s not the syntax so much as that her answers are 15-20 seconds long and spoken with absolute conviction, but are really just a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing.
