  • This sounds like a damn high school rant. Gosh, I don’t get why Democrats and Republicans cannot act like adults and just work together to solve some problems. I would say and possibly add some other parties to the mix who have great ideas but I think we gotta do this step by step. That’s too much change for America at once. Speaking of change, I guess Obama tried to change Washington with this stimulus package but didn’t succeed quite the way I think he envisioned he would. Jeez, this is just so….immature to me. We are dealing with some very real situations involving our money no less and this is what the head of the Republican Party has to say? I think I’m just over politics. I might just become an independent from now on.

  • jio: you’re overlooking the fact that plenty of lawmakers in D.C. who legitimate ideological differences; there is disagreement not only on how to solve those problems, but even about what those problems are.

    And bipartisanship is not some unalloyed good. Remember all the Democrats (29, i think) who voted for the resolution to give Bush authority to send troops into Iraq? It’s perfectly possible to reach across the aisle and craft really bad policy.

  • G.D.: That’s true that bipartisanship is not always the answer with our country’s woes. I just think this type of us versus them mentality won’t get us as a country any closer to our much needed goal. I guess the ideology behind politics would have to change a bit in order for the country to move forward towards a much greater positive direction. I don’t see that happening anytime soon so I guess we’ll just have to work with what we got and hope for the best.
