BUM RUSH THE SHOW!!!!

Yah boy “The G.D.” asked me to be a guest blogger person (if that’s the correct term, I dunno) for the 2008 Democratic Convention. Lemme tell you who I am and who I was:

For the sake of this blog I am “Henry Burton”:

  • ~I am from New York.
  • I was a campaign director for several Democratic challengers for office.
  • I always won (even during those lean Democratic times).
  • I lurve politics.
  • I am jaded.

Now lemme tell you my objectives during this convention piece:

  • I will holla at Kerry Washington.
  • I will get into this Kanye West party on Wednesday.
  • I will accidentally shoulder-bump John Lewis.
  • I will ask the esteemed Dean of the NY Delegation Chuckie Rangel for an apt…after shoulder-bumping him too.

And I will be happy to see some ol’ campaign heads from back in 02 and 04…then we will get drunk and mosh with protesters outside in the pit if the city hasn’t already passed an ordinance banning mosh pits (there is talk that they have).

Over 50,000 people have made their way to Denver. Many to witness history, some to just F shit up! I have already heard stories and fears of how much of a disaster this could be when trying to enter the convention center. This is the case because access to leave and enter is important for some cause all these lobbyist, unions, and interest groups are holding breakfasts, brunches, dinners, wine tastings (and I am sure some hooker parties…allegedly).

AHHHH…Long lines, helicopters, disorganization, white progressive protesters with dreds and drums talking bout Darfur and a delegate from New Jersey waiting on this long-ass line shouting: “DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?” (The reply of that poor DNC volunteer: “uummm, no ma’am I don’t…you’re gonna have to wait.”) This convention gonna be gooood.

From time to time I will include photos, and yes, I will attempt to make sharp, precise, amazingly witty comments on what I see and hear during my time here (especially when I’m at some of these bougie-ass events). Y’all bout to get the bidness! if yall try to Put On…watch!

But what I really want to accomplish is to find out why working class whites, Hispanics, and Jon Voight can’t support Obama. Shit gotta stop.

Obama/Biden 08!

  • We’ll need to see a picture of you and Kerry Washington before the week is over.

I honestly think the working class whites aren’t voting for obama theory is an overblown myth. Hopefully I’m right.

  • I’m in agreement with Lemu – if you actually run into Kerry Washington, some pictures are a must.

And, for sure, please find out how people who were voting for Hillary and ‘nem can’t bring themselves to vote for Barack. It can’t be for political reasons, surely. Those folks frustrate me to no end – they’d actually prefer a guy who would continue our commitments in Iraq, nominate a justice who would overturn Roe V. Wade, end Social Security, etc. over a man who shares essentially the same platform as their spurned candidate? These folks need to get over themselves and get back on the bandwagon.
