Reading Between the Lines

Last week, Ben Smith wondered where Hillary Clinton might choose to drop out when she finally did. It’s an interesting question; where is home for her? Chicago, Indiana, Arkansas and Chappaqua all have a decent shot. I said at the time I thought she would pick New York City. It’s a high-profile place and she is the state’s junior senator.

So, NPR was reporting today that Clinton, who is in South Dakota today, will take the red eye to New York tonight and speak from Baruch College tomorrow. And Smith is reporting that Clinton is shedding staff.

While her aides keep saying she is unlikely to drop out Tuesday, it has to be coming soon. The campaign has always said something would happen June 3. With the trip to New York that is leaving some staff behind, I feel like we know what the something is. But then, maybe I’m just hopeful. I’m applying logic to the situation, and that hasn’t ruled so far.

I think she is not dropping out, she will have to be forced out.

  • what constitutes being ‘forced out’?

  • Big Word

Hilary wants some position in this power structure. The last say six weeks have been primarly about getting the Party to understand that she can make trouble for them if she doesn’t get a spot on the ticket.
