So this post got me thinking about the peculiarities of Rosie’s fame. She was, quite literally, the opening number in one of America’s all-time-great movies. She was the brains behind the Fly Girls. She was — is – a sex symbol. She’s been ubiquitious and beloved and an avatar of legitimacy even though she’s never exactly been an A-lister in the conventional sense. (The fact that she was nominated for a best lead/supporting actress for White Men Can’t Jump nears Crash levels of Academy Awards fuckery.) Who else occupies this space, really?
Oh, and did you know Rosie Perez is 50? Bruh: Rosie Perez is 50. Marinate on that for a moment.
