When Afrocentric Art Goes Wrong.

Do note that Muhammad Ali is in the foreground while Nelson Mandela (in a suit jacket and tie) is playing the back. But it doesn’t matter: whoever’s on the wrong side of this posse* has got a righteous ass-whipping coming.

While you busy jonin’, this will be hanging in the Met in about 45 years, when Sasha dedicates it after she is re-elected as President.

So is Michelle suppossed to be Salli Richardson’s character?

    • lilkunta

What do you mean by ‘salli richardson character’? Michelle is herself.

      • You’ve never seen Posse. this was a riff off the joke in the OP.

  • Um…I don’t like this art…

  • rikyrah

where do you all find this stuff?

I’ll be honest..I’m shocked it’s taken this long for stuff like this to present itself.

    Wow…that’s all I can say…wow…

I neglected to comment on the absence of women (which is only one of many problems with this…depiction)…I supposed that other than Michelle, there is no room for black women in this posse?…

I fear that someone might actually start selling this on the street and one of my relatives might end up with a copy and I will have to listen to all of their stories of being “authentically black”…lawdy, help me!

Harriet Tubman and Coretta Scott King are in the picture.

  • I’m so appalled.

I like how MLK is a Catholic priest, and Obama has military insignia on, which no US Commander-in-Chielf ever wears.

  • Um, is there a white guy in the back riding between Obama and King? Who is that?

    • That’s Harriet Tubman. (I think.)

    • actually, i think that’s Rosa Parks.

OG’s from the “Struggle” days can appreciate the grouping, and the serious expressions of the old warriors in the struggle for Black Liberation. I see the spiritual effect of them riding with President Obama. Toooooo bad young folks don’t get it. They need to ride together in their minds for unity, because the “Struggle continues……… Who was the Artist?
