Regis Philbin’s Adrien Brody Moment.

For some reason, Regis Philbin decides to get all presumptuous and grabby with Nicki Minaj. Is this functionally any different than dudes who put their hands on women during Derby weekend or Caribana or whatever else?

UPDATE: Monica has more.

This also, of course, belies a misunderstanding among Americans of what racism and sexism look like. It’s not just the exclusive all-male, all-white clubs or obvious hate-speech but the kind of casual privilege that lets an older, white man touch a younger, black female in a sexual way, and that dictates her continued politeness in the face of such an obvious invasion.

    YUP upset…
What upsets me most is how helpless she had to feel…You’re this hard core “monster” but for the sake of advancing your career ya gotta grin and bear the sexual harassment…

When will female entertainers, particularly women of color feel like we DONT have to bear it? Like Kanye didn’t even touch Taylor, homie got banned…regis touched her but wholly doubt he’ll even get a tongue lashing…UPsetting

  • Quite disgusting. He not only grabbed her, but he was full-on appraising her for the entire conversation. Ick.
