I know, I know. Guru wasn’t one of the nicest MCs of his era. And the real star of Gang Starr was Primo. And, for real, we hadn’t heard anything from Guru for a minute.

But on the real, “Manifest” was one of those videos that altered the course of my young life. I started digging into Malcolm and the NOI like, as sooooooon as the video went off the air.

At a minimum, that song got me reading about something. And there’s not too many songs that I can say that about in my life. For whatever that’s worth.

RIP, Guru. And long live Primo.
