  • Ha! Nancy Pelosi looks shocked, SHOCKED.

I feel like it did break some unspoken rules of civility during these things. You can boo, but you can’t heckle. Or something. It struck me as strikingly out of place.

  • I’m pretty sure Biden took that guy out back later.

I don’t know who’s face was better: Obama’s “I’ll bury you” side eye, Pelosi’s “I thought I buried you”, or Biden’s “I didn’t want to have to bury you” head shake…

lol, yes i noticed their expressions as well.

I want to look back into the archives and to find out if a President ha ever been called a liar by a member of congress during a high profile speech.

  • The heckler was Joe Wilson of, you guessed it, South Carolina. As of a few minutes ago his website had crashed.

Welp. There’s the end of his congressional career. Though if Michelle Bachman can get reelected, perhaps anything is possible.

  • You can boo, and maybe you can heckle, but calling someone a liar for telling the truth ought to be out of bounds.

  • La

I am with Leigh. I think the best part is the fact that Biden looked like he was going to mush Joe after the cameras were cut off, lol

At this time,Rep. Joe Wilson’s Democratic opponent for 2010, Rob Miller, had raised about $50,000 since the outburst last night.

A coworker said she heard on NPR that the comment actually did break Senate rules, and if he had been in a regular session of Congress he could have been censured for speaking out of turn and shouting an insult.

  • Clearly SC needs a professional sports team so Wilson can just get into fights in the stands with the rest of the riff raff.

Although now that I write that I feel like I’m using such a Northeast frame of reference here! lol (And that Wilson’s behavior is actually much more nefarious…)
