Jay is spot on, as usual. He also makes a point that seems really Intro to Philosophy but always gets abandoned in conversations about racism/sexism/homophobia: intent and consequences can be unrelated. (Indeed, our criminal justice system is based on this idea.)

Hell, I’d even argue that intentional bigotry motivated by  animus isn’t close to being the most dangerous iteration of racism.
