John Updike

Another really famous and important author we’ve never got around to reading has died. Goodbye, John Updike. It seems like only yesterday we skipped your latest short story in the New Yorker. It’s not personal. We never get around to reading that stuff.

If you don’t read them…how important are they OR are they only important to the people that do read them and don’t mean a thing to anyone else? hummm…..ok, I don’t think that made much sense…ugh.

  • You didn’t miss much. Updike could use words better than most. In other words, he didn’t have much to say but he said it very well. Can’t fault the man, but there’s just not much there there.

That said, every loss, no matter how regular, is sad.
