I always thought Circuit City was overpriced and the service bad. I’m sure folks will find what they need at anyone of the many other electronic stores.

  • scott: i love how tone deaf you are. lol.

I work for my state’s Dept of Revenue legal division and we get all the notices for all the businesses that go into bankruptcy and list the state as a creditor, so I see this sort of thing everyday. Very few bankruptcies make the news. Besides, some businesses fail and others proposer, that is the nature of capitalism. CC isn’t different than any other business. I suppose the gov’t could always bail them out as well given that they seem intent on bailing so many others out.

Scott, I hear what you’re saying, and you’re right. But I think what’s amazing here is the scale. Mom and Pop restaurants go out of business every day. National chains with 30,000 jobs on the line don’t.

I almost never shopped at that store for all the reasons Scott mentioned. ALthough I’m sure the recent freeze in the credit markets exacerbated the company’s collapse, I’m also quite sure Wal-Marts big move into hella discounted flat screens a few years back played a large role in the company’s recent struggles.
