why would ANYONE ask about a policy on banning boks unless your intention is to ban? then to attempt to get the librarian removed instead, highly questionable.
that’s one strong librarian to hold out for two years under that sort of power and corruption.

(can you tell i’m biased?…but it’s books yo and it’s making me angry)

Shortly after I graduated, my hometown school board actually voted on whether to cull books with “obscenities” from the schools’ libraries. The big surprise was the teacher who made the most fiery speech against it. She was a pillar in the First Baptist Church in town and pretty conservative, but she also taught senior English. She said things possibly considered “obscene” abounded in Shakespeare, and she wouldn’t teach English in a school where students couldn’t check Othello out of the library. She said neither she nor anyone on the board should be the arbiter of taste for the entire community, no matter what they learned on Sundays. The board voted against the measure 3 to 2. See, sometimes sense wins. I wish I could say that happened all the time.
