Love Don Cheadle, and appreciate the spotlighting. I think one important fact propelling the Bourne trilogy to big bucks is the fact that it's based on a popular book series. Lots of people (me included) were fans of or familiar with the novels and wanted to see them brought to life. Don't know if that's true for "Traitor," but, if so, would imagine its book counterpart was not as popular. And you're right, the Bourne novels do have a great, escapist, conspiracy-fueled storyline that makes them interesting. In full disclosure, I haven't seen "Traitor," but will probably do so now. This is not, however, to detract from my impression that a movie starring a white, Oscar-winning actor who is viewed fondly many white Americans (despite his definite history of having some flops) will probably play to bigger audiences than that starring a solid and truly gifted, but not yet viewed as a bona fide leading man, African-American actor (a la Will Smith, on whom I will not comment here). Good post.

Well the problem with Traitor is that it's the same 'terrorist' film I've seen all my life only it's staring Don Cheadle. I think he did what he could with the role but the script overall was not challenging enough.

There are several other actors that consistently fly under the radar. The question is are they more concerned about their craft than the box office dollars?
