Obama Beating McCain in Head-to-Head Polling.

RealClearPolitics has Obama leading McCain in polls from Gallup, Rasmussen, Newsweek, Fox and USA Today by an average of 6.8 points.

The Gallup and Fox polls (46-44 and 45-41, respectively) are probably within the margin of error.

Newsweek, though, has Obama up by 15 points, 51-36. I have no idea what conclusions one is supposed to draw from any of this.

I conclude that, for now, Obama is beating McCain. Aside from the obvious, this is bad news for McCain because Obama has yet to publicly announce his selection for running mate. I’ve heard that he’s looking at Hagel and Webb, both of whom would bolster his chances with white males from different walks of life.

You know McCain is in trouble when people like Tony Perkins aren’t pooh-poohing Obama in the door.
