Selling Yay to Dylan McKay.

Every Monday that goes by, we slide deeper in deeper into our post-Wire withdrawal. Maybe one day we’ll eventually be invited out of the basement of our despair and allowed a seat at our sister’s dinner table. But I wouldn’t count on it.

Anyway, Tristan Wilds — who will forever be known to us as the charismatic and tragic Michael Lee — has signed on to a pilot that will be a spinoff of Beverly Hills, 90210.

We dunno. <snark> Shouldn’t he be worried about being typecast with all the thematic overlap between the two shows?</snark>

    As long as the writers slide in a, “You look good, girl,” I think I can get down with this.

    … although you KNOW this show will be canceled within 12-15 episodes, right?

  • SMH. So much for tryna bring back something worth watching like A Different World.

  • A Different World? Am I the only Negro in North America who isn’t enthralled by that show?

    This is going to be a cross between Gossip Girl and The O.C. He got the lead male role so at least he won’t be the “token Black” on the show, I hope.

  • I think there are gonna be a few people of color on the show, per the Variety story.

    “The show centers on the Mills, a three-generation Beverly Hills family whose teen kids, daughter Annie (Shenae Grimes) and adopted boy Dixon (Wilds) attend West Beverly Hills High.”

    LOL at “You Look Good, Girl”!!!!!

  • I’m rooting for Tristan Wilds. He has the professional cred to bring intelligence to 90210 if the institution doesn’t stop him in his tracks . . . a lesson he might have picked up while on the set of The Wire. It’s what ultimately brought his character, Michael Lee, down–although personal tragedy also played a significant role in that situation. Tristan Wilds seems to have a tad more going for him personally that Michael Lee. I’m seizing the audacity of h/dope with this one! (c;
