Kwame Kilpatrick Puts On His Victim Hat.

To be fair, no one deserves to be the target of death threats. (Well, you know…exceptions can be made.)

But you gotta wonder: what would it take for Kwame Kilpatrick’s supporters to turn against him? Not sacking a high-ranking police official he wanted to keep quiet. Not the allocation of public funds for personal use. Not an embarassing public sex scandal.

And isn’t his invocation of racial injustice an attempt to change the subject? (Big ups to Richard Thompson Ford.)

How effective can he realistically be going forward? Detroit has a lot of well-documented problems, and he won’t be able to put a dent in them. He’s become too big a distraction.

(Apologies for being so video-heavy today.)

who are all these fucking ppl supporting him? ok, let’s go past the chick who turned up dead that prompted the initial investigation. let move on past the affair. let’s talk about the cover-up, the perjury and the gross misappropriation of city funds. WHY are these people still supporting him?

detroit- this is why you fail.

  • I grew up in The D and my parents and sister are still there (kind of…they all bailed to the ‘burbs). They all said his speech before the victim piece was good. He has definitely got the city moving in the right direction. It’ll take YEARS to fix that mess, but he’s gotten things moving. Am I a supporter?…not any more. But I had high hopes for him and think he should finish his term. Trust me when I say it would be worse with a mid-season replacement!
