This cat is like that crazy-ass uncle you have to placate by nodding and smiling uncomfortably at during Thanksgiving dinner. He’s longwinded and perpetually irate, and while he runs for office like clockwork — for president in 2000, Senate in 2004, and again for president in 2008 — though he never, ever wins. His inclusion in last night’s pretty tame GOP debate was head-scratching: in the third quarter, Keyes’s campaign had only raised a little over $21,000. Total.
He actually met the criteria to appear in last night’s GOP debates (on the Democratic side, Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel did not), and being questioned about just barely meeting the requirements left him annoyed, because, you know…he’s Alan Keyes.
- One more time, with feeling. Tonight’s Democratic debate is the last one currently scheduled before the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses. Kucinich is none too happy about being left out. (Mike Gravel, for his part, responded by staring blankly at the debate organizers for three minutes.)
- And if you threw a party/inviting everyone you knew…Gayle King, Oprah’s platonic life partner, is moderating a town hall event for the Obama campaign.
- Ah. So that’s why T.I. needed all those guns. Atlanta police said the International Robbing Crew (really?) is the gang most responsible for the city’s spike in violence.
- And this is our son, Connor Jenkins. The Cleveland Plain Dealer says that black folks are adopting more white children. (If there were an emoticon for scratching one’s head, it would go here.)
- Can a network featuring Michael Baisden really be considered an improvement over BET? Four years since its launch, TV One is set to turn a profit for the first time this year.
