Eighty-year-old Edgar Ray Killen was convicted of manslaughter, because some of the jurors, allegedly, didn’t feel like there was intent in the murders. in a 1967 trial surrounding this case (the defendants were charged with conspiracy), a juror said she couldn’t convict Killen, because he was a preacher. Killen walked (the others were convicted).
